The 3 allegorical figures on the obverse stand for "Readin' Ritin' 'Arithmetic" and also mentions Farming, Manufacturing, Mining, and Merchandising. The reverse shows the map of Ohio surrounded by nine symbols of the state: State House; Honey Bee with Buckeye; Corn; Horn of Plenty; Airplane; Glass and Pottery; Grapes; Serpent Mound; and Steel.
