Commemorating the bicentennial of the founding of the first California mission, and the beginnings of what is now the state of California. The obverse shows a Grizzly Bear, long considered a California symbol. It is flanked by a redwood branch and a California Golden Poppy. The reverse shows figures representing cultural influences on the state: Franciscan Friar; Native American; Mexican Vaquero; Engineer-Builder; Industrial Worker; Farmer; Gold Miner; and Frontiersman.
