The 93rd Society of Medalists medal celebrates life on Earth, showing a small successful grasshopper, and a large endangered blue whale. While inspired from a hymn by Cecil Frances Alexander, "All Creatures Great and Small" is also the name of a popular semi-autographical book by James Herriot about his experiences as a veterinary surgeon which was released in 1972.
